To apply for a Permanent Account Number ("PAN") you have to submit the requisite (PDF file that opens in a new window) after filling with NSDL. The PAN application can also be downloaded from the website of National Securities Depository Ltd ("NSDL") (External website that opens in a new window) and then printed by local printers or photocopied (on A4 size 70 GSM paper). The form is also available at IT PAN Service Centres and TIN Facilitation Centres.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU FILL THE FORM WITH A BLACK PEN AND SIGN WITHIN THE GIVEN BOX.
After filling the form, paste a recent colour photograph (stamp size: 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm) thereon. You must mention the designation and code of the concerned Assessing Officer of the Income Tax department in Form 49A. At last attach a proof of identity and a proof of residence and submit with the local IT PAN service centre TIN facilitation centre center along with requisite fees. Applications can also be submitted on the Net. If an application for allotment of PAN is submitted through the Internet and payment made through a credit card, the PAN is allotted on priority and communicated through email.
